The problem of Fasih in Arabic Between Consistency and Change In the Linguistic System
Keywords:
fasih, rhetoric, langue, parole, utterance.Abstract
The essential relationship between the ideal social dimension of language and the individual dimension of performance reflects two linguistically interrelated manifestations, namely consistency and change. Linguistic consistency reflects the social reference to the determinants of the linguistic system, while change reflects the individual reference to the requirements of language use.
Addressing the problem of fasih lies in these two aspects of language: a relatively consistent state of affairs on the one hand, and a relatively dynamic changeable state on the other hand. In light of this controversial relationship, one can, cognitively and procedurally, determine the nature of fasih. Arabic linguistics research would be the most appropriate epistemological context for addressing this issue, objectively and methodologically.
