Abstract

The study examines metaphor in a different context distinct from the traditional analysis of figurative language in ancient rhetorical heritage. This study focuses on the relationship between people, language, and the cognitive process involved in transforming ideas into words. It seeks to unveil, in one way or another, how the human mind thinks and interacts with its surroundings through the use of language. Therefore, the study approached the concept of the figurative cognitive metaphor in the poetry of a contemporary Saudi poet who demonstrated a remarkable skill in employing metaphor prominently in one of his poetry collections. This collection served as a practical field for researching and exploring the utilization of metaphor to illustrate the mechanism of human cognitive thinking through language, expressing his visions and ideas in a creative format.
