Abstract

The study aims to achieve the following objectives:

1- Identifying the values of self-control that can be included in the content of Islamic education textbooks for Grade 10.

  1. The extent of the availability of these values in current textbooks of Islamic education.

3- Highlighting the differences between books of Islamic education in Grade 10 in terms of the availability of self-control values.

The author followed the descriptive analytical method using a modified version of Akala's content analysis tool (2014). Having employed this approach, the four textbooks of Islamic education (Quran interpretation, Monotheism, Jurisprudence, Hadith and Islamic culture) fort grade 10 were analysed in light of those values and their indicators and came up with a number of important findings as follows:

1-There is a great disparity in the distribution of the values of Self-Control in the four books of the Islamic education of Grade 10 where the values of faith and worship score the largest percentage, i.e. 41.7% in the Islamic textbooks, while the social values are ranked fourth with 10.3%.

2- The four textbooks of Islamic education differ in dealing with the main values of self-control and sub-values, leading to a difference in frequency and occurrences in each textbook.

In light of the findings, a number of recommendation have been suggested as follows:

-Integrating all the values of self-control in all textbooks of Islamic education in Grad 10.

- Increasing the use of the values of self-control in the textbooks content of Islamic education in a variety of forms and methods (texts, attractive educational illustrations).
