Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine, from the point of view of Umm Al-Qura University faculty members, the extent of requirement for the strategic directions to achieve the academic excellence in light of the strategic directions model of the university for excellence by Al-Zaher AL-Salateen. The survey Instrument is developed and administered to (298) faculty members.

 The findings indicate that the extent of requirement for the strategic directions to achieve the academic excellence in general and the leadership of academic change, academic programs, research field, knowledge management, publication, employment, community service, evaluation and accounting systems are high.  However, the extent of requirement for the strategic directions to achieve the academic excellence in teaching and e-learning, the development of the faculty, care of students, development of talent and creativity, and the facilities and services of the university are average.  The study concluded with a number of recommendations aiming to provide and apply the mechanisms and indicators of the strategic directions required to achieve academic excellence of Umm Al-Qura University.
