The Development of Science Colleges Programs in Saudi Universities in light of the Saudi Vision 2030 requirements

Abstract

This research aims to develop the content of the Science Colleges' programs in Saudi Universities according to 2030 Saudi Vision. To accomplish this goal, a list of the Saudi vision's requirements is prepared to develop the content 89 program in the academic departments. The list is based on the six strategic goals developed to achieve the vision. The descriptive analytical method is used with sample consisting of 30 programs' specifications in colleges of Science in seven Saudi universities. Findings showed that the fourth strategic goal "Increasing the employment rates of students" was ranked first with an inclusion rate of (72.78%), followed by the sixth strategic goal "development of students' social responsibility" with a less inclusion rate of (8.16%). The third strategic goal "effective contribution in the development and diversification of national economy" was also had less integrated percentage rate of (5.58%). The strategic goals "participation in the support of effective government", "the enablement of full and healthy life of students" and "the enablement of Islamic values and National identity for students" was the least rate in terms of inclusion at 4.86%, 4.58% and 4.01% respectively.

Based on these research findings, a proposal was designed for consideration to develop the science colleges programs. And, the research recommended the urgent need to develop the content of the science colleges' programs in view of the Saudi 2030 Vision's goals.
