21st Century Skills as Included in Physics (1) textbook for Secondary Stage in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The study aimed to explore the inclusion of 21st century skills in Physics (1) textbook for Secondary Stage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Researchers conducted a descriptive analytical method by using content analysis tool which consisted of (22) items, divided into three domains: Learning and Innovation, Digital Culture, and Profession and Life. Validity and reliability of the study were examined, where the reliability coefficient of Holsti was (86%), and frequencies and percentages were used for data analysis. Results showed that the inclusion level of 21stcentury skills in Physics (1) textbook ranged from high to low. The inclusion level of Learning and Innovation domain was high with (92. 38%), Digital Culture domain was low with (4.44%), and Profession and Life domain was the lowest with (3. 18%). Accordingly, recommendations were proposed, such as designing learning activities and integrating them in Physics (1) textbook to develop 21st century skills.
