The effectiveness of A development unit from the geography course in light of the " Needham's Constructivist " model for developing the depth of geographical knowledge and the values of cultural diversity among third year middle school students

Abstract

To know the effectiveness of an improved unit of the geography course in light of the "Needham Constructivist" model for developing the depth of geographical knowledge and the values of cultural diversity among students of the third year of middle school. To achieve the objectives of the study; the experimental approach with a quasi-experimental design was used to achieve the objectives of the study and preparing its tools, which were represented in the test of geographical knowledge depth, and the measure of cultural diversity. The research group consisted of (64) students, and they were divided equally into two groups; experimental control. The teacher's guide for the improved unit was prepared in light of the Needham Constructivist model. The two measurement tools were applied before and after on the two groups. The results were analyzed.

The research results indicated:

  • There are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) in the post application of the test of the depth of geographical knowledge, and the measure of cultural diversity values in favor of students of the experimental group.
  • There is a significant impact of the geography A development unit in light of the Needham Constructivist model on the development of the depth of geographical knowledge, and cultural diversity values.

The research presented a set of recommendations and suggestions related to employing programs and geography units developed in light of effective pedagogical models in the teaching and learning environment of social studies.
