Abstract

This study is aimed at revealing the degree of inclusion of Islamic values in the jurisprudence textbooks at intermediate level in Saudi Arabia, by analyzing those three books:

To achieve this objective, a list of most important Islamic values was compiled that included 78 values, divided into 8 dimensions.

Religious values, moral values, belief or faith values, social values, aesthetic values, transactional values, environmental values, and national values.

The results of the study revealed the arrangement of the dimensions of Islamic values as follows:

Religious values, moral values, belief or faith values, social values, aesthetic values, transactional values, environmental values, national values.

It also showed an imbalance in the inclusion of Islamic values in the books of fiqh (jurisprudence) for the intermediate level, where it focuses on certain values thereby raising their frequencies, while others were neglected, or were mentioned at a very low rate.

The discrepancies between the three books were so apparent in the contents of Islamic values. The highest percentage of content inclusion of Islamic values appeared in the Class One Book of intermediate level, followed by Class Two Book of the intermediate level, and Class Three Book of intermediate level in that order.

In the light of these results, the researcher has suggested a number of recommendations. The most significant ones are:

-Inclusion of three Fiqh books of Islamic values which were not written or mentioned in those books.

-Paying enough cognizance to the balance in moral values when preparing Islamic educational curricular, which should involve it various related branches, and are consistent with it position and impact on the behavior of learners.

-Presenting Islamic values in Islamic educational books in the form of interesting and varied educational situations.
