The degree of teachers' practice to professional development techniques and the extent from which they benefit in improving their professional performance

Abstract

The study aimed at identifying the degree of teachers' practice in Saudi Arabia to different techniques of professional development, and the extent from which they benefit in improving their professional performance. The study used the survey descriptive method. The sample of the study was (844) teachers from the general administration of education in Asir region. A questionnaire was designed from two axes containing (22) techniques of professional development. The study concluded that the degree of practice of teachers to professional development techniques was moderate. (8) of these techniques have been practiced to a large extent. Among these most practiced techniques: attending training courses, in-depth discussions with colleagues, and following up websites. While (12) of these techniques have been practiced to a moderate extent, and (2) techniques have been practiced to a weak extent; practicing the inherent training and continuing with higher studies. concerning the teachers' benefit degree from these techniques in improving their professional performance was moderate.(9) of these techniques have been benefited to a large extent. Among these most benefited techniques: in-depth discussions with colleagues and following up websites. While (11) of these techniques have been benefited to a moderate extent, and (2) techniques have been benefited to a weak extent; practicing the inherent training and continuing with higher studies.
