Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of teaching an academic unit using smart devices in academic achievement in science and the interest in science among female students of the second intermediate grade. The researcher used The experimental method with a Quasi-Experimental design with two groups and pre and post-measurement. The research sample was chosen from the second-grade intermediate students in the Om al-Mu'minin Hafsa intermediate school, may God be pleased with her, in the city of Buraidah. One of the classes was randomly assigned to represent the experimental group of 28 students. The other class randomly represented the control group, and it had 33 students. The research tools were applied;  the achievement test and the measure of interest in science, before that, followed by teaching the experimental group the unit of human body system using smart devices,  the control group studied traditionally, re-applying the research tools. The results revealed statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control group students in academic achievement and the interest in science in favor of the experimental group. This result confirms the effectiveness of using smart devices in academic achievement and science interest among second-grade intermediate students.
