The Extent of Parents Awareness of Developing Creative Thinking among Secondary School Students in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the extent of parents' awareness of developing creative thinking among secondary school students in Saudi Arabia.   To achieve this goal, researcher approach chosen survey descriptive through the preparation of a measure of parents' awareness of developing creative thinking be one of the three main dimensions (cognitive - skill – emotional). The scale was applied to a random sample of (163)parents of high school students in Jeddah during the first semester of the year 2020-2021.  The data analysis was used (averages, percentages, and standard deviations) to calculate the virtual honesty coefficient were applied for "Pearson" and calculate the reliability was applied "Alpha Cronbach" coefficient. 

The study results showed the following: 1- Parents' awareness of developing the cognitive dimension of innovative thinking (high) and ranked second with a percentage of (80%). 2- Parents’ awareness of the study sample in the skill side was (high) and ranked second the first place with a percentage (81%).  3- The awareness of the respondents on the emotional side ranked third with   (71%). 

 In light of the results: the researchers recommended building centers for specialists in the field of thinking development programs to provide guidance,  and hold seminars and courses that contribute to increasing parents' awareness, and design interactive environments for parents that allow them to share their experiences on how to develop their children's capabilities, and urge neighborhood centers to spread a culture of development Thinking by activating societal partnership between the family and the concerned authorities, and by guiding parents of their children to support thinking skills while practicing various life activities.
