The Level of PracticingEducational Competencies among Social Studies Teachers in the Intermediate Schoolsand its Relation to their Attitudes towardsthe Teaching Profession

This studyaimedatidentifying the practice level ofeducational competenciesamongSocial Studies teachers inthe intermediate schoolsand its relation to their attitudes towardsthe teaching profession. To achieve the study objective, the researchers have developed an observation sheet composed of (57) items which are distributedon five dimensions. Moreover, they prepared an attitude scale composed of (30) items. The study tools were appliedon a sample of (37) social studies teachers in the intermediate schoolsin al-Madinah al-Munawwarah region that was selected using the simple random approach. The studyfoundthatthe dimensionof classroom management competencies wasthe most practicedby teachers while the dimensionof using instructionaltechnology competencies wasthe least practiced. The study showed that the attitudes of social studies teachers towards teaching professionwere positive inmost of the scale items. It also indicated that there wasa positive correlation between the practice level of educational competencies ofsocial studies teachers at the intermediate schoolsand theirattitudes towardsthe teaching profession.
