Value competencies for gifted students in the General Administration of Education in Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region

Abstract

The current study aimed to determine value competencies needed for gifted students in Makkah Al-Mukarramah Educational Administration and to determine the degree of difference in (belief, academic performance and social ) values according to the difference of gender variation among gifted students. Then to determine the best approach  for inculcating value competencies within gifted students in Makkah Al-Mukarramah Educational Administration. The study followed the descriptive approach. The sample of the study consisted of (287) male gifted students and (128) female gifted students, who were chosen randomly, and a questionnaire consisting of (30) statements was used to measure three dimensions of value competencies (belief, academic performance, and social). The appropriate indications of honesty and consistency were extracted. The results indicated that the degree of value competencies was high. There were no statistically significant differences in the two dimensions of value competencies (belief and social), attributable to gender variable, while there were statistically significant differences in the second dimension of (academic performance) value competencies attributed to the benefit of females studying in classes and schools for gifted female students in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.  The study recommended paying attention to skills of value competencies, developing them, training gifted students in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.  It recommended as well intensifying activities that develop skills and capabilities of value competencies among teachers to instill them in classes and schools for gifted students.  It is conducting studies in other governorates and cities of the Kingdom and compare them with each other in the extent of the availability of value competencies among gifted students in KSA.
