The Reality of Distance Education in Light of COVID- 19 Pandemic: Challenges and Improvements from Female Special Education Teachers' Perspectives in Al-Baha Region (Qualitative Study)

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the reality of distance education in light of COVID-19, challenges, and improvements from female special education teachers' perspectives in the Al-Baha region. To achieve this; a questionnaire including Eight open-ended questions was applied to (34) teachers, and semi-structured interviews were conducted on (13) teachers. The study follows the qualitative descriptive method. Results revealed that teachers are preparing for distance education through training on the use of educational platforms, and simultaneous and asynchronous classes were implemented. There is a discrepancy in families and general education teachers' participation, and teachers faced difficulties in implementing the questionnaire on behaviour modification. There were some technical and administrative challenges.
