The Effect of Using an Educational Package in Developing Skills of Creating Digital Storytelling for Children Presented by Female Future Teachers at Princess Nourah bint Abdurlrahman University, Riyadh

The study aims at investigating the effect of using educational package to develop skills of creating digital storytelling for children of female student teachers at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in the city of Riyadh. The experimental approach isemployed by using a quasi-experimentalmodel. In order to achieve the aims of the study, the tworesearchers prepare educational package to develop skills of creating digital storytelling for children using Windows Movie Maker. The study toolsare: Note card for skills of using Windows Movie Maker, and knowledge and information test necessary for creating a digital storytellingusing Windows Movie Maker. The validity and reliability of the study tools are confirmed. The study is applied on a sample of 22 female university students whostudy Children Literature course (Nhj 201)and those who passedEducational Technologies course (Techn 131) as part of the curriculum plan of Elementary Teacher Education Program.The note card for skillsof using Windows Movie Makerwhich includes fifteen skills,and knowledge and information test necessary for creating a digital storytellingusing Windows Movie Makerconsisting of fifteen objective items of multiple choice are also applied before and after the implementation of the study experiment. The study reveals that there are statistically significant differences at the level of 0.5, which disclosesthe effect of the educational package based on Windows Movie Maker in developing skills of digital storytelling for children of pre-service femaleteachers. The effect of knowledge and information testrequired for creating a digital storytelling by Windows Movie Makeris demonstrated by the arithmetic mean in both pre-tests and post-tests. The mean score of female students is 10.4in the post-test, and 8.56 in thepre-test.This value indicates the presence of the effect of the experimental treatment onthe posttest scores. The study recommends making use of the educational package based on Windows Movie Maker to develop skills of creating digital storytelling for children of pre-service female teachers, which is presented in the current study. This can be done through applying thisstorytellingin the teaching of both Strategies of TeachingArabic courses and Educational Techniques courses in the curriculum plans of university educational programs; for its effectiveness.The study also suggestsconductingacademic study using programs and applications of creatingstorytelling for children.The researchers post digital storytelling in a blog created for this purpose.
