Abstract

The study aimed to identify the concept of Islamophobia, reveal the factors that contributed to the growth and spread of the phenomenon of Islamophobia. It is to identify some of the images and features of this phenomenon and reveal its effects, and indicate its danger to the individual and society, and to indicate ways to treat it through the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet.. Then come up with a proposed conception of the hoped-for role for Islamic universities to reduce the distortions that represent the phenomenon of Islamophobia.

The researcher used the descriptive “documentary” method and reached several results, including Islamophobia means the unjustified fear of Islam, its rejection and replaying it randomly, either out of ignorance of its truth or belief in artificial and unrealistic reasons.

The spread actors for Islamophobia have also varied between religious and media factors; some of them are due to the wrong behaviors of those affiliated with Islam. The Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet have included several principles and standards that would build bridges of cooperation between Muslims and others in various fields of life, and reflect the true image of Islam with all people without discrimination. And address the phenomena that affect Islam and its people. with wisdom and justice.

The study recommended the need to educate society about the danger of adopting extremist ideas that offend Islam, which leads to dire effects on the individual and group levels, as well as calling on Islamic universities to support local and global efforts that address the phenomenon of Islamophobia.
