Reality of Practicing Shared Leadership by Heads of Educational Departments in the Social Science College at Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University
Abstract
The aim of the study is to investigate the reality of practicing sharing leadership by heads of educational departments in the Social Science College and to identify the obstacles that restrict this practice.The study also aims to highlight the requirements of improving the practice of sharing leadership by the heads of departments. The researcher uses the survey descriptive method by distributing a questionnaire to all the 113 faculty members of educational departments, who represent the study population. The study concludes with the following findings: First, the agreement of the study population that the practicing of sharing leadership by the heads of educational departments is high. Second, their agreement that there are obstacles restricting the heads of educational departments from practicing sharing leadership is medium. Third, their agreement on the importance of the requirements to improve the practicing by educational department heads is extremely high. Fourth, there are statistically significant differences between the responses of faculty members attributed to the academic degree variable.
