Requirements of the Application of Accreditation and Quality Control at the College of Social Sciences at Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Light of Some Contemporary International Experiences

Abstract

The objective of this study is to reveal the reality of therequirements of accreditation and quality control at thecollege of Social Sciences and to propose the important requirements that must be obtained to preparethe College of Social Sciencesfor its application for accreditation and quality control. A questionnaire consisting of (128) phrases was administered toa sample of (72) teaching staff members at the collegeto elicit their views.

The study has shown that the requirements of accreditation and quality control at the college in general, areavailable to a moderate degree. They arepresent in the field of [outstanding college administration] to a high degree; but in the field of [achieving cooperation and community participation] they areavailable to a lowdegree compared with other averages of the fields. Also, difficulties that face the application for accreditation and quality control at the college are moderate .The most significantdifficulties are the lack of a clear and accurate definition of accreditation standards, as well asa decrease in the participation ofthe collegeteaching staff membersin decision-making.  The study has come out with eight standards as requirements that must be present in order to apply accreditation and quality control at the college. Theyconsist of a number of indicators associated with requirements to meeteach standard.
