The Experience of Mothers with their Children in Dealing with Crises in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: A Qualitative Phenomenological Study

Abstract

The current study aimed to reveal the experience of mothers with their children in the primary stage of dealing with crises in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study followed the qualitative phenomenological approach to study the personal experience of individuals, in which the researcher describes experiences and experiences about a specific phenomenon experienced by individuals as described by individuals themselves. A semi-structured interview was used to collect information related to the study questions, and the study sample consisted of (10) mothers. The researcher prepared an interview tool consisting of (19) questions about the practices followed by mothers to inform their children about the Corona pandemic in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the practices followed by mothers in rearranging life priorities and instilling some life skills during quarantine. The results of the study showed the following: The responses of the mothers of the children were almost similar regarding the practices followed to inform their children about the Corona pandemic. The responses of the mothers varied regarding the risk of the epidemic, its spread, symptoms, and the method of infection, as well as concerning the concepts of the risk of the epidemic, its spread and symptoms, the method of infection, methods of awareness and protection, and the responses of mothers were similar. Regarding negative and positive feelings about the pandemic. The results also showed a significant similarity in the mothers' responses to the practices followed by them in rearranging life priorities and inculcating some life skills during quarantine. In light of the results of the qualitative study, the study recommended the importance of conducting more similar studies focusing on issues of family awareness of raising children in times of crisis.
