Abstract

The current research aimed at designing  two different patterns of performance support through an online training program to help the faculty of Taif University acquire electronic evaluation skills using Blackboard  learning management system  and it also aimed at revealing their attitudes towards Blackboard LMS .The research sample consisted of three groups : the first studies the training program using the traditional method (as a control group , made of 24 members) , and the second studies the training program using the concise support performance pattern (explanatory texts and still images) (as a first experimental group , made of 25 members) , and the third : studies the training program using the detailed performance support pattern (video) (as a second experimental group , made of 26 members). When selecting the faculty members of the two experimental groups possessing the requirements of e-learning via the Internet and the desire to participate in the program were taken into consideration. The semi-experimental method was used to detect the effect of different support performance  patterns on different  dependent variables. As for the experimental design of the research it followed the Randomized Control-Group Pretest-Posttest Design, and through reviewing of many of the e-learning programs design models , Mohammed Attia Model was chosen to design a training program , including two different performance support patterns. The following research tools were used: Blackboard LMS e-learning evaluation skills test and an attitude scale towards using Blackboard LMS.

The research returned the following results:

  • The effectiveness of each of the two sets of support performance pattern (concise& detailed to help the faculty acquire electronic evaluation skills compared to the control group.
  • Lack of statistically significant differences between the average scores of the concise support performance pattern group and the detailed performance support pattern group in the post application of the e-learning evaluation skills test.
  • The effectiveness of the training program to help Taif University faculty (three research groups) acquire positive attitudes towards Blackboard LMS .
  • There are significant differences between the average scores of concise support performance pattern group and the detailed performance support pattern group in the post application of the attitude scale towards using Blackboard LMS in favour of the detailed performance support pattern group.

The study recommended the need to adopt a pattern of performance support (detailed), in the development of e-learning programs, especially programs that aim to improve the performance or develop the skills of the trainees with low technological skills.
