Abstract

Developing School Leadership in the light of Distributed Leadership: Concept & Application

(Analytical Study)

This study aimed to identify the nature of distributed leadership, in order to develop its application in school contexts. It used the descriptive method by analyzing related literature. It studied its concepts, importance, principles, and different approaches. It also analyzed the dimensions of leadership behavior in the light of its five intelligences. Its effectiveness required professionalization in the light of stated standards. The study reached a number of results, the most important of which is the need for distributed school leadership in the contemporary school context, and that it is already applied in the European countries and a number of schools in Arab countries. Its integrated application has not yet matured. It presented a number of proposals, among of which: building a school leadership structure based on three components: Thoughtful leadership, Action leadership, and emotional leadership. This structure should work in the light of a balance of responsibility, independence, joint and individual accountability, according to the scope of responsibility and independence.
