The Contemporary Approaches of Learning and Teaching Language among Theories and their Explanations in Educational Research Studies
Abstract
The large number of Educational Studies and Research, which meant teaching and learning of language and the multiplicity of trends in which they went, confused educational researchers, and make them perplexed when dealing with those studies .It made them wonder: what studies they should select? And which trend they should follow? This make the review and classifying of these studies according to specific basis are urgent, in order to understand the nature of these studies, the relationship between them, and the goals they seek. This means more awareness, deeper understanding and greater benefit. Also, the studies in the field of language teaching and learning has received a lot of attack by non-educators working in the field of language teaching and learning. Accused it of weakness, unoriginality and superficial treatment. This prompted the researcher to show the value of these studies through the monitoring of trends and rooting them in language theories, psychological theories, and entrances to the teaching and learning language. Giving to those studies more credibility, confidence and persuasion. Making them more able to develop language teaching and learning from an educational perspective which is supported on the dimensions of linguistic, and psychological and communicational basis. This opens the way to conduct interdisciplinary researches involving linguists and educators alike. Which is one of the most contemporary areas that received a lot of attention by researchers and scientific institutions. This research was monitoring nine directions for research and educational studies, and then followed by the various theories that have adopted them, then language entrances that launched them. After the presentation researcher concluded results in a table monitor every trend, linguistic and psychological theories relied upon and linguistic entrance related to them. That has been consolidated by a set of studies in the field of teaching reading for secondary school students, as models for studies in each trend that exceeded thousands of studies. reading was chosen to without the other of its importance as an end in itself and a tool for learning and academic success, secondary stage was chosen as to their importance and being the point of contact between basic education and higher education.
