The development of scientific research system competitiveness ability in Saudi universities in light of 2030 vision.

Abstract

The current study aimed to introduce a proposition to develop the competitiveness ability of the scientific research system in Saudi universities in the light of Vision 2030, To do that the study followed the descriptive method and survey as a tool which was distributed among faculty of three universities (princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman university, Jeddah University and Imam Faisal Bin Abdulrahman university). The sample consists of 384 members chosen randomly. The result revealed that the members of the study sample agree to a moderate degree on the reality of developing the competitiveness of the scientific research system in Saudi universities in light of Vision 2030,also the results revealed that the study sample agree to a large degree upon the obstacles that face the scientific research which are (weakness of planning and procedures of marketing researches, poor self-financial resources and poor partnership between universities and industry and production institution.  The results also revealed that the study sample agreed to a very large degree on the proposals to develop   competitiveness of the scientific research system in Saudi universities in the light of Vision 2030, the most significate ones are (arrange partnership with local and international research institution, use researches result to solve developmental problems, and develop a strategic plan to link researches with development priorities). The results also revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the responses of the study sample according to the difference of the university in favor of the University of Jeddah and the University of Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal. The results also showed that there are differences according to the years of experience, in favor of the study sample who have experience of 10 years or more. A proposed vision was presented to develop the competitiveness of the scientific research system based on three main aspects: Vision 2030, competitiveness indicators related to the vision, and the results of the study proposals.
