Abstract:
This study aimed to prepare a list of visual thinking skills to be included in the geography course for the first grade of secondary school in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the academic year 1444 AH, and to identify the extent to which these skills are included in the course, and the researcher used the descriptive approach (content analysis) to determine a list of visual thinking skills to be included in the geography course, and the results of the study reached the construction of a list of visual thinking skills that must be available in that course, namely: The skill of recognizing the shape, the skill of linking relationships in the visual form, the skill of analyzing the visual form, the skill of perceiving and interpreting ambiguity in the visual form, and its indicators, which consisted of (15) indicators. The results refer to that the skill of recognizing the visual form came by (39.7 %), which is average in last place among the skills of the visual form, while the skill of linking relationships in the visual form came in second place by (78.4 %), as well as the skill of analyzing the visual form by (77.3 %) in third place, while The skill of perceiving and interpreting ambiguity in the visual form came by (77.2 %) and in fourth place, and the skill of extracting meanings from the visual form by (78.7 %) ranked first and the level of inclusion is high in the course. The study recommended the need to raise the level of inclusion of the skill of recognizing the visual form by a percentage consistent with other visual thinking skills, and attention to the image in terms of its significance and clarity, and the title of the visual form in achieving visual form skills.
