The Essential Competencies of Student Activity Supervisors at Public Education Schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the light of their Functional Roles

Abstract

    This study aims to detect the essential competencies of student activity supervisors in public education schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to clarify, highlight and demonstrate these competencies. The study population consists of all supervisors of student activity who work in the Directorate-General for Student Activity in the Ministry of Education, in addition to all the supervisors of student activity who work in the Directorate of Student Activity at the Directorate-General for Education in Riyadh. The study applies the descriptive approach (survey) and uses the questionnaire as its instrument.

     The results of the study shows that the most important personal, professional and technological competencies required to be available in the student activity supervisors in public education schools includes respecting the school system and being wise when dealing with emergency situations. Moreover, it requires to be convinced of the importance of student activity and its high stature in modern education, familiar with the objectives of the student activity, and able to deal with e-mail and use computers in the field of student activity.
