Situational regret and its relation with level of aspiration at students of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University

Abstract

 

This study aims to identify level of situational regret, and to reveal the relation between situational regret and level of aspiration, and the differences in the levels of situational regret and aspiration among students of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University. This can be traced back to variables of gender and achievement level. To achieve the objective of the study, the author has used scale of situational regret and another for aspiration; they were administered to the study sample which consisted of (332) students.

Findings of the study indicated the low level of the feeling of the university students regarding the situational regret. The highest level of regret was related to achievement, followed by personal regret, then social regret. Findings also indicated a negative relation between situational regret and aspiration level, while there was no differences in situational regret related to the difference of the type of sample (gender). There are differences in situational regret related to the difference of achievement level. Difference of the aspiration level can be related to the difference of the type of sample (gender). Finally, there are differences in the aspiration level which can be related to differences of the achievement level.
