Social, emotional and personal difficulties facing students with visual disabilities at King Abdulaziz University and their relationship to some variables

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the social, emotional and personal difficulties faced by students with visual disabilities at King Abdul Aziz University and the extent to which they are related to some variables. The sample consisted of (85) male and female students with visual impairment. The data were collected using a questionnaire that was constructed of (35) items that measure (4) dimensions: anxiety, isolation, dependence, and depression, and the descriptive survey method was used. The results indicated that the level of social, emotional and personal difficulties was moderate. There were no differences attributable to gender except in the dependency dimension and it was for the benefit of females. As for the academic year variable, there were no significant differences. As for the economic situation variable, there were differences for the benefit of the economic situation, and the differences were in favor of families whose income was fifty thousand or more.
