The Effectiveness of (PDEODE) strategy in Developing Competence Strategic and Attentional Control in mathematics among nineth-grade students in Palestine

Abstract

The aim of research is discovering the effectiveness of the (PDEODE) strategy in developing strategic competence and attentional control in ninth grade students in Palestine. The quasi-experimental research design with two groups and pre-post tests was used. The study sample consisted of 74 ninth grade students from Al-Qarara Basic School for Girls in Khan Yunis Governorate. The experimental group consisted of 37 students who studied using PDEODE, while the control group consisted of 37 students who studied using the traditional teaching method. The groups were randomly assigned. The researcher developed a strategic competence test and an attentional control scale. The results showed that the experimental group outperformed the control group in the post-test of strategic competence and attentional control. The researcher recommended that workshops and training courses be held for teachers to train them on PDEODE, and that the teacher's guide should include information on how to use PDEODE in teaching mathematics.
