Factors why some Media graduates proceed to occupy non-media jobs
Field study on a sample of graduates of Media Disciplines who occupy jobs other than their academic major discipline in Riyadh
Abstract
This study aims at identifying the most influential factors which make some Media graduates occupying jobs other than their academic major discipline, by virtue of their experiments in searching for jobs, their direct dealing with various employers, and the findings of this study have been distributed into the basic following concerns:
First: Identifying the most significant data related to the graduates’ sample, it includes their scientific divisions, their graduation periods and media disciplines, their academic grades, their current work fields, their job levels and to what extent they are cooperating with Media Institutions after graduation.
Second: Identifying the media graduate’s experiment in searching for a job: it includes to what extent they are aware of employment requirements in the media labor market, period to await in order to obtain a media opportunity, the desired cities as a work place, the preferable media job sector, and finally type of personal efforts exerted by the graduate to occupy a job.
Third: Identifying factors why media graduates proceed to occupy non-media job, it includes the general factors for preferring non-media job, and the most significant personal factors which make the graduates preferring this job.
Fourth: Identifying the graduates’ trends towards the most significant factors related to employment in various entities (Public & Private), their trends towards the most significant factors related to occupation of media jobs in the private media institutions, and finally their trends toward the most significant factors related to efforts exerted by media departments in employing their graduates.
