The quality of life and its relation to parental consent to cochlear implantation for their ‎children with hearing impairment

Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify the quality of life of parents of children with hearing disabilities and their relationship to parental satisfaction towards the cochlear implantation.

The current research sample consisted of (280) parents of children with hearing disabilities in Riyadh, and a measure of quality of life and parental satisfaction to the cochlear implant by the researcher is applied to them.

The results of the study revealed a statistically significant correlation between the quality of life and its dimensions (quality of public health, quality of emotions, quality of time, quality of family life, quality of mental health, total quality of life) and parents' satisfaction to cochlear implantation for their children with hearing disabilities.

(0.682,0.678,0.763, 0.718, 0.731, 0.768), respectively, which are values at the mean level of 0.01.

The results of the study showed that the quality of life and parental satisfaction of cochlear implantation for their children with hearing impairment was high in the study sample. There was also no statistically significant difference between the fathers and mothers in quality of life and parental satisfaction of cochlear implantation for their children with hearing impairment due to gender variability.
