Abstract

 

The present study aims at studying the problem of educational wastage in terms of its concept, the multiplicity of its forms and manifestations, and causes of their occurrence, and then presenting a future vision that helps to suggest some proposals that may lead to overcome or minimize the negative impacts of this problem, be it at the educational, social or economic level.

The problem of the study is formulated in the following questions:    

  • What are the forms of educational wastage?
  • What are the causes of educational wastage?
  • What are the methods of measuring educational wastage?
  • How can we reduce educational wastage?

This study uses the descriptive approach and the future studies approach. The study has come up with several findings, including:

  • Educational wastage has multiple forms and manifestations, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • The importance of the concerted efforts of all components of society, starting from the family, followed by the media, and then the government at large, as the resolution of the political leadership to address this phenomenon gives great impetus to the efforts exerted to deal with the problem of educational wastage.
  • Addressing educational wastage will only succeed by adopting a national strategy to develop the education system.
  • The formation of a committee to combat educational wastage, consisting of experts and specialists whose mission is to develop and plan the necessary educational policies and programs to reduce the impacts of this problem.

        The study concludes by presenting a future vision based on a set of possible scenarios, to produce a set of proposals that could help to reduce the negative impacts of this problem.
