The Efficacy of a Suggested Program Based on PDEODE Strategy in Polishing up Critical Listening Skills among Female Students in Intermediate Schools

Abstract

The study aimed to measure the effectiveness of the proposed program based on the strategy of (pdeode)  in the development of critical listening skills for the intermediate stage students. To achieve this goal a list of appropriate critical listening skills has been prepared for the students of the first intermediate stage, and a scale of critical listening skills. The program, also, has built a proposal based on the strategy of (pdeode) and  a teacher`s manual. The study tools were applied to a sample of 40 female students from the first- intermediate stage, and the study results were reached by using t-test to calculate the significance of differences between pre and post measurements of the sample. And the following results have been reached                                          :

The value of T (31,97) at the level of significance (0.01) shows a marked improvement in the critical listening skills for the students , and to ensure the effectiveness of the program, ETA box (η2)  has been calculated and valued (0,96) which is a big effect size, that confirms the effectiveness of the proposed program to the development of critical listening skills.
