Abstract

The study aimed to identify the degree of knowledge of secondary school science teachers of the skills of employing human-centered design (HCD) in teaching. The descriptive approach and the social survey type were used, and it was applied to a sample of (258) secondary school science teachers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study tool was a questionnaire consisting of (36) paragraphs distributed over five main axes. The study reached a number of results, the most important of which are:

  1. The degree of knowledge of secondary school science teachers of the skills of understanding and empathy with students was moderate, with an average of (2.79) .
  2. The degree of knowledge of secondary school science teachers of assembly and composition skills was weak, with an average of(2.39) .
  3. The degree of knowledge of secondary school science teachers of the skills of generating ideas and designing educational activities was moderate, with an average of (3.39) .
  4. The degree of knowledge of secondary school science teachers of modeling and testing skills was moderate, with an average of (3.28).
  5. The degree of knowledge of secondary school science teachers of the skill of improving the educational experience was significant, with an average of (3.48) .
  6. There were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) in the averages of the study sample responses to the study tool attributed to the variable of academic qualification, years of experience and training courses.

Based on the results of the study, a number of recommendations were recommended, the most important of which were providing a guide and technical applications, promoting a culture of continuous development and organizing training programs that focus on developing the skills of employing human-centered design (HCD) in teaching among secondary school science teachers.
