This study aimed to identify the reality of vocational rehabilitation services provided to individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Asir region from the perspective of their parents. It also sought to explore differences in service evaluation based on the gender of the parent (male/female). The study adopted descriptive comparative methods due to its suitability for the research objectives. The main sample consisted of 78 parents of individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Asir region, aged between 40 and 55 years. To achieve the study's goals, the researcher developed a validated questionnaire specifically designed for this purpose, comprising 21 items distributed across three dimensions: quality of rehabilitation programs, availability of resources and technologies, and opportunities for integration into the labor market. The results revealed that parents’ evaluation of vocational rehabilitation services was at a moderate level across all three dimensions. The findings also showed statistically significant differences in service evaluation attributed to the gender of the parent, with the differences favoring females.
The study recommends improving the quality of rehabilitation programs, providing more supportive training environments, and enhancing opportunities for labor market integration in line with the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities, while considering the perspectives of parents as a central element in the success of the rehabilitation process.
